All,
We are moving to another province in Afghanistan. This is an exciting and also sad event. The men have done an absolutely outstanding job improving the outpost. It’s hard to believe that six months ago, these were flea-infested stables.
COL Preysler, the 173rd Brigade Commander, visited us last month to tell us that he intended to move us because we had won in our area. This is a tremendous achievement, and we are proud of the men. Now, we are being asked to start over. The mission is to go to another part of Afghanistan and win that area too.
2nd PLT will be moving very soon. Please hold all your mail until we get a new mailing address. Mail already sent will be collected on Monti, and we’ll get it to 2nd in the future. Erin has the timeline and will let you know.
Two weeks ago, US paratroopers and ANA soldiers distributed school supplies to the school-aged girls of the town of zor Asmar. The supplies were from you and from our friends that support us.
The zor Asmar girls school consisted of two frame tents, which were burned down recently by the enemy. The enemy does not believe that girls should go to school.
We won a huge victory without firing a single shot. When I say “we,” that’s all of us. US paratroopers and Afghan soldiers distributed school supplies from Americans to Afghan children. An entire town saw that the enemy burns down schools, and that Americans and Afghans bring hope.
Thank you for everything that you do. Take care
Jay Pieri
